10 Handmade Holiday Cards
There are some fun creative crafting to do for the holidays and making your own holiday cards will make family and friends be sure to remember.
Holiday cards with colorful felt pennants - this is a trendy fun finishing touch to this hip Christmas card. You will need cream card stock, dark red card stock, pattern paper, holiday sentiment stamp, foam tape, Cut card to 4 1/8 inch and 5 and 3/8 inches and pattern paper to 4"x5.25". Sand edges of pattern paper. Cut smaller pattern paper and attached to matte layer. Start with a clean stamp and mask off parts of the sentiment that do not need to be inked in the first color with tape. Ink then remove tape mask before stamping first color. Clean stamp, then repeat.
A handmade holiday photo card - 3x3 photos, white card stock, scissors, ruler, glitter, glitter glue, small paintbrush and foam dots. Print card template under white card stock, print photos. Cut out card design using scissors. Use a ruler and fold increase at the middle of card. Use a small paintbrush to apply glitter glue to one edge of the photo. Sprinkle glitter on the glue and tap off excess. Attach the photo and add foam dots to the back of the glittered photo.
Falling snow holiday shaker card - you will need white card stock, turquoise card stock, acetate sheet, foam tape, double-sided tape, chunky glitter, rubberstamps, rectangular die, turquoise and watermark ink and white embossing powder. Cut card base and fold in half. Using watermark ink, stamp sentiment on the bottom of frame and sprinkle white embossing powder under watermark ink. Ink stamps thoroughly and stamp image on the white card stock. Cut window acetate sheet slightly smaller than outside of frame. Line frame with high-tech double-sided tape. Line stamped focal image with foam tape leaving no gaps in the corners. Add chunky glitter to inside of cavity before removing tape liner. Using foam tape center then attach finish snow scene to card.
Yarn embellished holiday ornament card - you will need white card stock, yarn, tacky glue and scissors. Print the ornament card template on the white card stock. Use scissors to cut out card design. Apply glue to the first ornament, covering the entire circle. Place the end of the yarn in the center of the glue then wrap yarn in a circular motion. Continue spiraling yarn until entire ornament is covered. Score card in the center to fold.
Handmade modern ornament holiday card - you'll need a two and quarter inch circle punch, double-sided tape, card stock, narrow ribbon and scissors. Print templates onto heavy weight photo paper. Trim at grey dotted line. Score and fold card in half. Cut pattern to template in to, and use a 2 and ¼ circle paper punch to make perfect circles. Use double-sided tape to attach three folders circles together back to back. Alternate patterns and colors. Use double-sided tape to attach to ornaments to the front of the card positioning one slightly higher than the other. Complete the card by attaching strips of ribbon and a bow to the top of each ornament.
3-D felt Christmas tree card - you will need white and turquoise card stock. Pattern paper, foam tape, felt, tree die, sentiment stamp, cotton string, colored ink, paper trimmer, glue and tape. Cut card base and pattern paper. Then cut another smaller pattern paper layer. Use a clean stamp and mask off parts of the sediment that do not need to be inked in the first color with regular tape. Inc., then remove tape mask before stamping first color. Clean stamp, then repeat the masking step. After gluing each card front element to its corresponding mat, attach each element to the card base with glue or double-sided tape. Using tree and star dies, cut an aqua felt tree and white star. Vintage sheet music handmade Christmas card - blank white 5x7 card, two sheets of vintage sheet music, card stock, scissors, pencil, ruler, computer and printer, glue stick and silver glitter. Cut pages of sheet music. Measure and cut blank white card stock to create a 3x5 piece.
Apply glue to backside a vintage sheet music. Center image in front of card. Run a beat of craft glue along border of vintage graphic. Sprinkle silver glitter on the glue and shake off excess.
A bird and branch holiday card - a blank white card. Red scrapbook paper, white card stock, Pinecone, scissors, pencil, ruler, bird graphic, glue stick, silver and red glitter. Scale bird graphic then print and cut out. Measuring cut red scrapbook paper. Glue scrapbook paper to the center with glue. Attach bird in the same manner. Use fingers to break scales from Pinecone. Apply craft glue to red rectangle or were branch would be in relation to perched bird. Stick pinecone scales on the glue to form a branch. Print out a holiday greeting and sprinkle card with glitter and shake off excess.
Recycled paper cards - scissors, white card stock, X-Acto knife, recycled images, ruler and paper glue. Play selected template onto a piece of patterned recycled paper. Draw around the template and cut out the shape. Score the card with an X-Acto knife and ruler and fold card and half and glue the large star shape onto the front. Using the smallest star template cut tiny stars from recycled paper and glue them around the large star.
Feliz Navidad handmade holiday card - 12x12 pink card stock, scissors, hot glue gun and glue sticks, black marker, assorted ribbon and pattern fabric. Cut the sheet of card stock and half to form card. Cut assorted ribbons and trim into six-inch segments, cut slits into every quarter inch to create fringe. Attach the ribbon to the front of the card with hot glue and layer till the entire front of card is covered. Use a permanent marker to write Feliz navidad.
