Etsy Accepts Apple Pay on the Web
Right before the beginning of the holiday shopping season and Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday in particular, online selling platform Etsy has introduced Apple Pay. On Monday, November 21, this online selling platform announces that now users of its online site can make payments through Apple Pay. In the past the company supported Apple Pay only for purchases made on the Etsy iOS app. Apple’s latest iOS update has been released in September, along with Apple Pay on the Web which enables online buyers to use Apple Pay as a payment option at checkout even when smart phones are not being used. The new feature is going to influence the company’s markets in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Singapore and Switzerland. The improvement is the result of Etsy’s decision to support Express Checkout via Apple Pay on iOS devices. In October the company announced its plans to partner with payments firm Adyen to facilitate payment processing in the U.S. and Europe. Committed to providing an e-commerce platform and technology that would help bring people together Etsy added Apple Pay for web transactions to increase its online traffic. According to Internet Retailer 2016 Top 500 Guide, Etsy, Amazon and Walmart have experienced the largest increase of the shoppers’ visits online via both its mobile and desktop platforms. Etsy was reported to have been visited by over 30 million online customers during just a couple of days in early November.
