This toolkit was created and produced by The HTC Group for Handmade in America, with assistance from the Appalachian Regional Commission. Every effort has been made to provide accurate and complete information in this instruction manual. This toolkit addresses most issues impacting artists and students interested or engaged in apprenticeships. While the toolkit does not specifically address all fair practice employment standards, it presumes such operations in accordance with OSHA and U.S. Department of Labor. Toolkit users should assess their own situation, weigh benefits and challenges, and consult their own counsel to determine appropriate issues and circumstances that need to be addressed during the application, contract and evaluation process.
Apprentices are personal learning experiences that require clear, concise communication in advance of training to achieve the desired results.
