Farms, Gardens and Countryside Trails of Western North Carolina is a full-color, glove-box size book that provides six auto loop trails off of the Blue Ridge Parkway through 21 counties in Western North Carolina. The book features gardens, farms, orchards, vineyards, pick-your-own operations, farmer's markets, retail nurseries with demonstration gardens, specialty growers, garden-related handmade craft shops, restaurants serving local produce, bed and breakfasts with garden areas, walking trails, natural attractions and heritage sites.

A map accompanies each trail with icons to mark the location of the sites. The Blue Ridge Parkway, otherwise noted in the book as "The Ribbon Garden," is the centerfold of the book and a common thread running through five of the six driving trails.
